Transplanted Southerner Alex Houston loves life in the Big Apple. She's engaged to a devoted man - who happens to be both black and Jewish - and she's miles away from her racist, right-wing Southern family. It all seems to be going so well; then she's called back to South Carolina to be bridesmaid in her spoilt sister's wedding.
The thing is, Alex's fiancee believes her family is dead and her family believes she's still single.
So, when a rumour is unwittingly started that Alex is gay, she goes along with it. Easier than telling the truth, right? Except that her sister is coming to NYC, expecting to be introduced to a beautiful lesbian girlfriend...
