Product Description

This is the acclaimed film adaptation by Neil Armfield (director) and Tommy Murphy (screenwriter) of Tim Conigrave’s beloved memoir about his relationship with John Caleo. Set in Melbourne and Sydney in the 70's and 80's, ‘Holding the Man’ is a romantic tragedy which is indisputably an Aussie gay classic.

Ryan Corr and Craig Stott give heartfelt, endearing performances as Timothy Conigrave and John Caleo, who fell in love while teenagers at their all-boys high school. John was captain of the football team, while Tim was an aspiring actor. Running the gamut of emotions, the film follows their enduring romance over 15 years. The discrimination they face, the periods of bliss and those of tumult, are all authentically portrayed, and the lovers' relationship continues through it all. When Tim and John are diagnosed HIV-positive, they have to face their greatest challenge.
