This is an honest, charming film about a gay guy (handsome out and proud British actor, David W Ross) who is devoted to caring for his sister-in-law and niece. He's prepared to do what it takes to stay in the US for that, even marrying his best girl friend, but when he falls in love with Mano, his committments become hard to juggle... We also have a couple of new dvd releases recently seen on television : the absolutely hilarious Threesome, about what happens when a straight couple and their gay best friend try to put their partying ways behind them to raise a child together, and Please Like Me, starring gay Aussie comedian Josh Thomas.

Zach spends his days working a dead end job, surfing, drawing and helping his irresponsible sister care for her young son. When his best friend Gabe goes away, Zach finds himself spending time with Gabe's older brother, Shaun. But Shaun is openly gay and Zach finds himself in the difficult situation of having to admit to what he feels for him. Inextricably linked with this is his conflicted sense of responsibility for his young nephew, which could get in the way of his dream of going to art school. This feel-good romance was the popular hit at this year's Australian queer film festivals and it's no wonder. Gay surfers, two very sexy lead actors, and a storyline which is sensitively developed and acted make this a movie with great depth and nuance. Its a film that is not just about being gay, but about being true to yourself, and those you love. Highly recommended.
