This cult classic is a white-trailer-trash tale that puts the 'fun' in 'dysfunctional'. The hilariously sordid details of a Southern family surface when relatives converge for the funeral of "Grandma Peggy," who died after tripping over her adulterous lover's detachable wooden legs! As if sister Sissy doesn't have enough problems in the wake of five failed marriages, she's struggling to quit smoking, popping Valium like candy, and having to cope with the dysfunctions of assorted family members. Niece Latrelle, is in denial over the homosexuality of her son Ty, an aspiring actor out in L.A. who is on to his twenty-seventh therapist. She is also contesting the decision of her sister LaVonda to clothe Mom in her favorite mink stole for the burial in 110-degree Texas heat. Meanwhile, Peggy's son Earl (Leslie Jordan from Will & Grace), is a homosexual transvestite who's spent the last 23 years dressed as Tammy Wynette, confined in a mental institution where he's been the long-standing entertainment. Then there's Olivia Newton-John in a movie-stealing performance as lesbian, ex-con, local bad girl, Bitsy Mae Harling, whose timely live performances of topical songs add to the general mayhem. Get into the fun, and get sordid!
