''I Do'' DVD
now in-store
at a special price!
I Do was one of the hits at this year's Sydney Mardi Gras Queer Screen Film Festival and we're very pleased to be able to offer this just released title at our very special price of $24.99 ($10 less than the recommended retail price)! This is an honest, charming film about a gay guy (handsome out and proud British actor, David W Ross) who is devoted to caring for his sister-in-law and niece. He's prepared to do what it takes to stay in the US for that, even marrying his best girl friend, but when he falls in love with Mano, his committments become hard to juggle... We also have a couple of new dvd releases recently seen on television : the absolutely hilarious Threesome, about what happens when a straight couple and their gay best friend try to put their partying ways behind them to raise a child together, and Please Like Me, starring gay Aussie comedian Josh Thomas.

It was called the night Australian television lost its virginity. In 1972, Number 96 exploded onto screens with a sex bomb called Abigail and then shocked the nation with a real bomb blast that killed the buildings best-loved residents. It was the most groundbreaking series in the history of television and to celebrate its 40th anniversary, watch the provocative episodes that shattered every taboo of the era including nudity, homosexuality and interracial romance. Those original residents included virginal Bev (Abigail), gay student Don (Joe Hasham), bisexual boyfriend Bruce (Paul Weingott) and his married lover Maggie Cameron (Bettina Welch). There was Vera (Elaine Lee) being raped by Harry (Norman Yemm) and pregnant Helen (Brioney Behets) discovering her husband in bed with Rose Godolfus (Vivienne Garrett). Hippies were stripping in the laundrette, bikies were running amok and Dorrie (Pat McDonald) was forever snooping around in search of gossip. A few years later, Lucy (Elizabeth Kirkby) would be pregnant with a change of life baby, when a bomb is hidden in a box of olives. With just minutes to spare, Les Whittaker (Gordon McDougall) would find the warning note but his attempt to evacuate the building ends in disaster when the blast rips through the deli and wine bar. Four residents are killed, Norma Whittaker (Sheila Kennelly) lies unconscious under the cigarette machine and Jack Sellars (Tom Oliver) returns to track down the mad bomber.Whether it was the Broadcasting Control Board demanding cuts or the revolutionary split-screen Friday night cliffhanger, this wildly popular show was always front page news all across Australia. Now its time to re-live its gritty beginnings and the explosion that stopped the nation in another mad marathon of Number 96. Also check out the earlier compilation volumes in this series. This is a 4 Disc set (16 episodes in black and white, and 16 episodes in colour)
