Product Description

Written and directed by Tom Kalin, and long unavailable, this movie has now been digitally remastered and finally released. This audacious and groundbreaking film (by the director of the bob Dylan bio-pic I'm Not There) looks back at Leopold and Loeb's thrill-killing of 1924. Shot in black and white and using impressionistic imagery, Kalin creates a hallucinatory mix of dream and drama. Where earlier films of the same subject (such as Hitchcock's Rope and Richard Fleischer's Compulsion) only hinted that these characters might be gay, Kalin creates an overtly sexual and brooding meditation on desire and the relationship between the outsider status of homosexuals and how they felt the need to subvert social norms. As the title suggests, this film is a powerful and overwhelming experience.
