About the Event:

This event is part of a series of in-conversation literary talks. The main conversation will be followed by an opportunity for audience members to ask questions, and then to meet the author at a book signing afterwards. Seating is unreserved.

Tim Pocock is already a triple threat – an actor, a singer and a pianist – but from late June he will also become known for being a published author. His book The Truth will set you Free: Growing Up Gay in Opus Dei will be published on the 25 June.

This event is an opportunity to hear Tim talk about his life - and in particular his upbringing in a deeply conservative Catholic family. His school had links to Opus Dei, he was encouraged to become a priest not an actor, and he even underwent gay conversion therapy.

Tim will be in conversation about this upbringing and also his career as a performer with acclaimed actor Sacha Horler. Sacha grew up in Darlinghurst and is starring alongside Tim in the upcoming indie noir film Body Blow.

About the Author:

Tim Pocock is an Australian actor, producer, musician and advocate originally from Johannesburg, South Africa. An award-winning pianist and singer, Tim began his career on the Sydney Opera House stage at a young age, before embarking on a successful career in the Film and Television industry.
