marginal zine edition 01: a trans co-annotation

"I [am] not speaking of a marginality one wishes to lose - to give up or surrender as part of moving into the center - but rather a site one stays in, clings to even, because it nourishes one's capacity to resist. It offers to one the possibility of radical perspective from which to see and create, to imagine alternatives, new worlds."

- from 'Choosing the Margin as a Space of Radical Openness' (1989), bell hooks

marginal is an Eora (Sydney) based grassroots anthology zine by trans and gender diverse people, bringing together a diverse range of poetry, photography, essay, and visual art. Much like an old library textbook covered in notes from past loaners, each contributor has annotated one another work in a co-produced, living document: the result a work that is it's own body, not confined to lines or boundaries, where process and play is as much the product as the literal concrete document.

Featuring work from: Aemyn Zephyr Connolly, Angel., anonymous, Pludo Berry, Deaundre Espejo, Hannah Vlies Lawrence, and Max Wild
