Like all teens, Tru (Najarra Townsend), a 16 year old high school student living in San Francisco, is just trying to fit in. But when her lesbian moms (Alexandra Paul and Cynda Williams) decide to move away to a conservative suburban town, not only does she have to leave the city she loves, but also her friends and her two gay dads. Needless to say, she feels she doesnt quite fit in because of her non-traditional family. So Tru is surprised when Lodell, the school football hero befriends her. But Lodell is actually gay, and while he secretly loves musicals as much as he genuinely loves sports, his status as a jock and his African-American background make him feel he has to stay in the closet. Tru agrees to cover for Lodell by pretending to be his girlfriend, but when she starts developing feelings for sweet and sensitive Trevor, who seems to feel the same towards her, things begin to get complicated... This is a sensitive and touching film about building relationships and friendships, and finding the strength to be your self.
